How to use high shear emulsifier to process coatings
The high shear emulsifier uses a specially designed rotor and stator combination. Under the high-speed drive of the motor, the processed material is sucked into the rotor and subjected to hundreds of thousands of shearing actions in a short period of time. During the shearing process, the material is split, crushed, and dispersed under the centrifugal friction and high-speed impact in the precise gap between the rotor and the stator; at the same time, due to the strong kinetic energy of the high-frequency machinery, materials of different properties form strong hydraulic shear, liquid layer friction, tearing and collision, so that the materials are fully dispersed, emulsified, homogenized, and dissolved. After the material is thrown out of the rotor and stator combination at high speed, the emulsifier is equipped with a redirection device to further enhance the dispersion and emulsification effect.
The coating production process refers to the material transfer or conversion process of processing raw materials and semi-finished products into finished paint products, which is generally a chemical unit operation process such as mixing, conveying, dispersing, and filtering. Usually, according to the different types of products and their processing characteristics, the appropriate grinding and dispersing machine equipment should be selected first, and then the basic process mode should be determined.
The production of paint is mainly the dispersion process of pigments. To add pigments to base materials to make colored paints, the aggregate particles of pigments must be dispersed so that the pigment particles are separated from each other so that they can be evenly distributed in the paint to form a colloidal suspension. The dispersion of pigments in liquid media not only affects the color and beauty of the paint, but also affects the physical properties of the paint, such as adhesion, durability and storage stability. However, due to the strong molecular attraction, the adhesion of pigment aggregates is relatively strong and it is difficult to disperse. The dispersion of pigments is usually carried out by a high shear emulsifier. In the high shear emulsifier, the aggregates of pigments are subjected to shear force, grinding force, etc., so that the pigment particles are evenly dispersed in the liquid medium.
